New Years Resolutions

Hello It's that time of year again... Resolutions are, in my opinion, important to have as they set some goals for you throughout the year. Here are mine for 2016. 1. Take care of your skin and body. 2. Read a little every day. 3. Write more stories. 4. Be patient. 5. Respond to all texts and calls. 6. Make a difference - sign petitions and get involved with charities. 7. Study a little each week. 8. Smile and make someone happy. This year I want to be happy and make the year worthwhile. -Emicool

Looking back on 2015

Hello... At the end of 2014 I made some resolutions for 2015. Seeing as it is the end of the year, I feel as if I should reflect on those resolutions and I how well I did. 1. Learn to unapologetically say no.  I accomplished this one, managing to put my needs above others when I need to without feeling bad about it. 2.Read, Read, Read. Well, I started off all right but I failed. 3.Write more. Didn't really happen... 4.Pick up the camera.  This year I have been taking more photos of my surroundings and places that I have been. Pass! 5.Tell more stories.  Passed on this one as well. 6.Moisturise. Better than last year but still not good enough. 7.Appreciate every square cm of your body. This year by confidence in myself has definitely improved. That's a good thing. I've learnt that each piece of my body is important because it is part of me. 8.Don't give a damn about what others think of you. I don't care what other people think, as long as I'm ...

11 things I am grateful for

Hey guys I think that it is really important to step back and reflect on what you have in life. Today I am doing just that. 1. I have a house. So many people are homeless and I am grateful that I have somewhere to call home. 2. I have water and food. People are starving and I have the privilege of food and drink. 3. Public health services. I have so much to thank the public health systems for. Seriously. 4. Education. I get free education until the age of 16. How amazing is that?! 5. I have family and friends that are really supportive of me. 6. Supplies. My parents buy me the things that I need and for that i'm thankful. 7. Clubs. I am part of clubs that keep me smiling. I am grateful that I have a chance to be in groups like this. 8. My body is fully working. I am so grateful that I have an amazing body that can do pretty much anything. I am thankful that I can do things. 9. Leisure. I do not have to work for hours everyday and night to make money. I am so very grateful...

Are we all in hell?

Hello Are we all in hell? A question that my mother asked me one night whilst talking about religion. Let me explain... My mum has a theory that we are all in hell right now and that to get to heaven we must die after having completed a 'good' life in the eyes of 'God'. Just say for a minute that I am Eve (as in Adam and Eve), I have been punished for picking fruit from a tree and therefore have to live on Earth through many lives until I have had a 'successful' and 'sin-free' life. What if I have lived multiple lives because I have always messed up? What if heaven is dying? Heaven is true happiness and peacefulness so it is logical. So if I do not follow what God wants me to do, I have to try again. Heaven is supposed to be free from evil. Look at the Earth. Disease, illness, murder, rape, wars. So much evil. What if this is the hell? To me it makes sense. Ignoring the fact that Satan is supposed to rule, Earth certainly does seem like a he...

My 'spiralling circle of nothingness'.

Hello to everyone reading this! Today's blog is slightly different, I am going to talk about something that I like to call my 'spiralling circle of nothingness'. Just over a year ago now I hit a point where I wasn't interested in doing anything. I didn't want to go to school or go to dance lessons, I wanted to quit my music lessons and didn't want to spend time with friends. I became quite sad and spent every free moment in my bed. Sometimes I cried myself to sleep and I started having panic attacks and chest pain. But I wasn't aware of how I was. My family were getting worried and so my Mum asked me if anything was wrong, to which I responded nothing. My piano and dance teachers had asked my parents questions and were genuinely worried about me. None of this was getting through though, because I thought that I was fine and that they were being stupid. That was until my mum told me that my two best friends had spoken to her about me behind my back. ...

The beauty of being busy

Hello people of the internet! I am actually a really busy person - there is never a day where I have absolutely nothing to do. Being busy is really fun but can simultaneously be really stressful and tiring. Here's what I'm going to be doing in the next couple of months. Dance show. Friday and Saturday (16th & 17th Oct 2015) I will be in a show dancing a modern dance and a tap dance. I have been doing dancing for 11 years now and I have done plenty of shows in that time. Literally all through the next week I will be at rehearsals for hours at a time. Tiring. Drama show. I am in a production of The Wizard of Oz in November. That should be interesting. Rehearsals are starting to get more intense, longer and more often. Keyboard exam. In December I am taking my Grade 4 keyboard exam. So in between all of the rehearsals I have to find time to practise for a keyboard exam. Shakespeare production. I am on the prop making team for an upcoming performance that a local...

19 Annoying Things That Teachers Do

Hello! Ok so first of all I apologise. You might have noticed that today is not a Sunday. This have been hectic lately so I am sorry that I haven’t uploaded the last two Sunday blogs. :-( Anyway, this week's blog relates to the last one. I present to you: 19 annoying things that teachers do! The bell is for me, not you.  No. The bell signals the end of the lesson and now I am going to be shouted at for being late next period. There are still 3.26 seconds left. Sit down. You simply cannot do any work in 3.26 seconds. Stop being pointless. We have homework too, it’s called marking. And I have to do 4 essays, 6 projects and a speech for tomorrow. Here is your homework - 8 page essay. Due tomorrow first lesson. An essay takes longer than one night. Also, that’s just mean. Someone once kicked the ball with their toe and broke it. Pretty much every PE teacher has said this at one point. You should be able to do this, it’s easy. Thanks for lowering my self-esteem. ...

12 Annoying Things People Do At School

Hey what's up you guys Sometimes, I really hate people. So without further ado, here are some things annoying things people do at school. WARNING: Contains ranting. 1. Slow walkers  These are the people that will literally take baby steps down the corridoor causing a pile up of people behind them. The worst thing about this is you usually can't get around them. 2. People who hug their friends in the middle of the corridor Seriously you saw your friends YESTERDAY so could you not stop in the middle of where I am walking? Thanks. 3. Girls who constantly touch up their make up Your make up looks fine. You don't need to apply a new coat of mascara every lesson and put on MORE lip gloss. Now you look stupid. 4. Girls who cake on their make up I don't really wear make up and when I do, I strongly believe that less is more. There is no need to cake on 3 layers of foundation and 2 layers of powder. You just look fake so calm it down. 5. Guys who constantly re-do the...

Stepping into September

Hey guys! So as we all pretty much know, September is the start of a new school year and with that comes back to school adverts, new stationary and the head teacher talking about having a fresh start. So I've made some changes. I am going to be getting a ton more homework this year due to the fact that I am now taking my GCSEs. However, I still want to be active and continue the things I do online. Therefore, I have decided to upload blogs every Sunday . These may be stories of my week, this I'm interested in or just random stuff so hopefully everybody will be entertained. I am also uploading a new chapter on my Wattpad (www.wattpad.com/user/EmicoolStyles) every Monday . The chapters I'm uploading are just short chapters for my more non-fiction stories and will only be around 500 words. (All the Wattpad chapters have been pre-written). I am hoping to get a full chapter (about 1500-2000 words) out on my main story once every half term. Like I said before, I am now st...

15 'facts' that are not true

Hey guys. So as someone who spends a lot of their time on the internet, I know how easy it is to believe stuff that's online. So today I am listing 15 'facts' that are just not true. 1. Christopher Columbus did not think the Earth was flat. He never once said that and believed that the Earth was round like many other people of his time as it was common knowledge for about 200 years before he set sail. 2. Irregardless is a word.  Along with words such as 'selfie', irregardless has been added to the dictionary because that word was used so much. 3. Video games don't cause violence. There have been many  studies on this topic and they all pretty much conclude this: there have been links with people being more aggressive straight after playing a violent game but no evidence to suggest that all players are generally more violent if they play video games. 4. Girls play video games just as much as boys.  Gaming is often thought to be a male activity. In reality ...

Year 7: How to survive high school

Hey guys So in England, high school starts when you are 11 years old. Making the transition between first/junior/primary school can be hard for many people. So in this blog I will be sharing some tips and advice for those of you who are starting high school. AHHH...I'M LOST! Most high schools are quite big which can be intimidating especially on the first week. But there is no need to be nervous. At the start of the year you will get a schedule ( BONUS TIP : Make plenty of copies of this so you won't be stuck if one gets lost) and most of the time they have the room numbers on them. My school has signs on the walls so on the first week of year seven I just followed them. However, I definitely could not tell you the room numbers of my classes now because I just memorised the route to each room. In the first couple of weeks, make sure you walk around with a friend or two so if you do get lost you are not alone. YOU'RE LATE! In the first week or so of joining the scho...

School Essentials 2015

Hey guys! So as school is ever approaching and some people have even gone back to school, I have decided to do a rather cliché blog post: School Essentials. Let's go! Stationary School Bag  This is pretty much compulsory. Make sure you pick one that is big enough but not so big that all your stuff is going to get lost in there. I think rucksacks are the best for school. Try going onto Pinterest or YouTube to find some fun ideas of ow to spice up a plain school bag! Planner  In my opinion, a planner is essential. I would highly suggest going out and buying a planner (my school gives us one for free). Make it as colourful as you want. Notebooks In most schools in the UK, books are provided for us to right in. However, I still bing in a small A5 notebook for scribbling down notes and such like. Just make sure you bring them. A pencil case including: Pens (black and blue) Pencils Ruler Rubber Pencil Shapener Highlighters Sticky notes I love using sticky no...

My experience with braces

Hey guys So on Friday (August 14th), I got my braces taken off. I thought this would be a good opportunity to tell you about my experience with braces. When I first got my braces a year and a half ago, I was really scared. All of my friends who had braces were saying that it hurt so much so, understandably, I was nervous when I walked into the orthodontist. When I got there, they took some pictures of my teeth using a mouth stretcher thing. Getting my braces put on hurt. First, she brushed my teeth and then stuck a tube in my mouth that was blowing air into my mouth (I have no idea what this was meant to do). She put a special glue on my teeth then one by one added a bracket to each tooth. I know this is pretty obvious but it tasted metallic. She then asked me what colour I wanted (I got red). After using something that looked like a light machine to set the brackets, she started the wires. The only way I could describe this is a lot of tugging and twisting. This hurt the...

Keyboard exam.

Hey So I am now entering the second week of summer. The last day of school was...interesting. I had to do a keyboard exam. First of all, I have been playing keyboard for 7 years and this was the fifth keyboard exam I have done. Keyboard exams go in this order: Step 1 Step 2 Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 (this is the grade that I have just taken) Grade 4 Grade 5 Grade 6 Grade 7 Grade 8 Diploma The exam went really well, even though I was quite nervous. I had to do lots of scales, play 3 pieces, answer some questions, do some sight reading and do some aural tests. Although this may sound like a lot, the exam only took about fifteen minutes. The examiner was really nice as well. I got my results back a week later and I got 91/100 which is a distinction ! I am really happy with the result because I spent literally months preparing for this exam. -Emicool

Sports Day

Hey Every year that our school has done sports day it has been reasonably simple - if you want to do a certain event you put your name down for said event. This year, however, our school decided that they were going to mix things up a bit and make sports day compulsory for everyone. If you refused, you would get an after school detention for an hour. Naturally, this change caused some problems... Our school has 6 lessons in a day, each one called a “period”. During period one and two, our year group had to do team sports such as cricket and rounders. This is where everything went haywire. Most people knew what sport they were doing but the lists had been changed at the last minute so some people were unsure. Those of us that did know our sports didn’t know where to go. It wasn’t just us though; the teachers also had no clue. This meant that for the first 10-15 minutes or so everyone was walking around aimlessly whilst stressed teachers were trying to hoard us into areas while the...

Exams are coming!!!

Hey! So exam season is among us so I thought I would upload a quick little blog. This is an extract from a chapter from one of my books on Wattpad. If you want to read the rest of the chapter about studying, check it out here:  http://www.wattpad.com/myworks/10357935/write/81434010 So if you are anything like me, you will get a ton of really important tests that you defiantly need to study for.... Methods for studying: Flashcards: Okay, this sounds really cheesy but this is seriously a really good study method. The prospect is pretty simple....little pieces of paper with a key word/term/thing you need to remember on one side and the definition/answer on the other. Then, you just keep reading and testing yourself on the flashcards. In bed, waiting to go into class, at break with your friends or even whilst eating breakfast - this can be done anywhere. Songs: A little less-known this one but for me songs work really well to help me retain information. First of al...

Performing at Wembley?

Hey guys! So as you know, in March I got the opportunity to sing at Wembley Arena with our school choir. The trip took around 4 hours with a stop on the way down and the way back. Obviously, at the service stations I ate KFC (seriously I am addicted to popcorn chicken haha). When we got there we took a couple of picture outside wembley and then got our tickets to go into the arena. Saying is was big is an understatement. Over half a million children of all ages from differnt schools all over the UK joined together to make one big choir. Even during the soundcheck you could tell just how spectacular this was going to be. I am going to ship all the detials of the day because a girl from my school posted on our music leaders blog about this. She did a much better job at explaining it than I ever will be able to. Check it out here: Voice in a Million Blog . That is all for now. Thanks for reading! -Emicool

Tiny post

Hey Yesterday was Friday the thirteenth. A rather bad day if you are superstitious. Nothing really happened to me yesterday thankfully. Valentines Day is not really too exiting when you are single. I spent all day in my room watching Merlin repeats  and being on YouTube. Wherever you are, whoever you are with, I hope you had an awesome Valentines Day. It is half term and I am spending 4 days of it with my Dad, yay.! Pancake day is coming up!!!! I can not wait, it is another opportunity for me to eat a ton of unhealthy food. I have actually kept to all of my new years resolutions...wow. Well that is it. I just thought that I should do a short blog since I haven't posted in ages. More regular posts are coming soon. -Emicool

Baby Sister?!

Hello So as you have read the title, you have probably figured out that I have a new baby sister. Her name is Jessica and she was born last Saturday. She is so small and tiny. :3 In other news, my Dad just turned 40...so that happened. We have been back at school for two weeks so 2015. I get to go and perform at Wembley Arena with my school choir again, I am so exited. Well that is actually it. I just wanted to do a short little update.
